Hey Y'all! Here is a drawing I actually did a few days ago now but I liked it and thought I'd share, the hero isn't anyone in particular but I had fun drawing her. I used a pose from another female super hero from a MC Donald's toy wrapper... wow, talk about lame resources? I know.. right?!

My comic book art journey continues... I am really enjoying this..!

I've never really been around many comic books.. or super heroes.. but I have recently become quite fascinated with this entire comic book thing! I one again used a reference picture I found online for the post and costume design.

I've been a bit shaky so I probably shouldn't have colored it tonight or inked but I was way to excited to wait!!

I was really happy with the result of this drawing, I did the pencils, inked in sharpie and then colored over in crayola markers.. yay! :)

Hey Y'all!

Last time I was here I wrote about my venture into drawing comic and super heroes.. I had a pencil drawing that I said I might color several different ways. I'  have been working on this all morning, this is done straight from the pencils scanned into the computer.. I had a lot of fun working with a program called paint.net which is a free paint program. I'm not really sure how to do a lot of special things or shadowing so I have been coloring shadows and trying different things all morning to get to the two versions I have here.

I might try inking the original and trying another digitally colored version but I'm not sure yet, we will have to see how things go! In the meantime, check out these two versions I have been working the hours away at! :)

Flash Pencils

Hey Y'all!

I have been messing around with a bit of super hero drawing these past two days.. I haven't ever done a whole lot of stuff like this so even though most of my drawings are done with intense reference of the character I'm drawing I am proud of my work that I'm doing. This is actually my most recent piece that I am still working on.. I plan to ink and color, though I am not sure the medium I will use yet. I may try digital and traditional.

I have a few other drawings did before this one. I am learning the anatomy for a hero type character, both female and male. I think that with time I'll be able to draw more like this without such intense use of the reference pictures. That's my goal.

This may not be exactly what people would call very good, but I am actually quite pleased with my results. I've only REALLY been trying for 2 days now.. so with time and practice I am confident I'll improve!

Sketch Crawl.. Practice Run...

Hey Y'all!

So I have been extremely busy these past few days, I'm really sorry i haven't been here as much as I would like but I am not going to promise this time it's gonna get any better. The truth is I'm overloaded with stuff to do and my drawing has become sparse.

However I was sitting on top of the old refrigerator outside, (I get a better cell phone signal up there) and suddenly got hit with a wave of inspiration. So I came back in and grabbed my sketch pad! This is just a quick sketch of the neighbor's backyard from where I was sitting, I only did the corner closest to me.. and since the dogs came out at the end and started barking at me they are not in the drawing..

This was actually inspired by the new date of the worldwide sketch crawl! I believe it's the 25th sketch crawl this year and the date is November 21st. Basically it's where people go into groups and on walks in their local towns and sketch what's around them, some for the whole day others for only a few hours. I'm not in a town that has one and I tried to start one up last year with little success so this year I'll just be doing it with some of my online friends.. and we will be posting out results online, most likely.. well I will be at least. In the mean time this was a fun single picture practice run, mom said no more sketching before breakfast so I had to come in and eat. :) And of course grab some fresh coffee.. my favorite part about long days sketching is the endless cups of coffee lol!
